A modular system coordinating power and connectivity from the floor to the workstation
Designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, CityWave completes the CityLife masterplan and creates a new gateway to the district. Its two buildings, East and West, are linked by a large curved canopy that forms a sheltered public space and connects offices, retail, green areas and services. The complex offers approximately 63,000 square metres of gross lettable area and is designed to accommodate around 4,000 workstations.

The challenge
Managing scale without fragmenting the infrastructure
In a workplace of this size, the quality of the electrification depends above all on the ability to coordinate the entire connection path.
Floor access, horizontal distribution and furniture electrification may fall under different supply packages and design phases. When they are treated as independent elements, each component may be technically sound while the infrastructure as a whole becomes more fragmented. Transitions between systems multiply, service routes become harder to read, and coordination with flooring, layouts and furniture involves a greater number of interfaces.
The challenge was therefore to create continuity between the origin of the installation and the areas where power and data are actually used. The infrastructure had to serve spaces of different sizes, configurations and uses, while maintaining a consistent distribution logic and a controlled visual presence.
The ASA Plastici solution
From floor to workstation: three levels, one architecture
VersaFloor
VersaFloor integrates the infrastructure access point directly into the floor, keeping its technical presence to a minimum. The coverable lid can be matched to the floor finish, helping to preserve the visual continuity of the surface. When the unit is closed, the system remains almost imperceptible, leaving visible only the elements required for access and cable exit.
Connectivity thus reaches the working areas without disrupting the uniform reading of the space, in keeping with the need for a discreet and controlled visual presence.
Within this integrated approach, VersaFloor brings power, data and multimedia connections right up to the workstations, reducing reliance on perimeter connections alone. The system acts as the link between the building infrastructure and the organisation of the workplace, and can be coordinated with the MEP design, the floor structure and the furniture layout.
Cablaggio GST
GST cables and connectors link the floor access points to the elements integrated into the workstations, ensuring flexibility and continuity along the entire power path.
The system allows several units to be connected on the same line and the distribution to be organised according to distances, furniture layout and the requirements of the different working areas. Modular connections reduce the need to provide an independent power supply for every single point and allow the infrastructure to adapt to the configuration of the workplace.
VersaTek
VersaTek completes the path by bringing power, data and multimedia connections directly into the desk or furniture element.
Profile length, interfaces, cabling and finishes can be coordinated with the characteristics of the workstation and with the interior design.
Electrification is therefore not added to the furniture as a separate accessory, but designed together with the place where people work and use technology.
Products used
The complexity stays in the system, not in the space
CityWave demonstrates the value of a design approach that connects three levels often addressed separately: floor, distribution and workstation. Continuity between components makes the service route easier to read, allows different working areas to be differentiated and limits the fragmentation of the infrastructure.
The result is not a sequence of stand-alone products, but a system capable of supporting the scale of the workplace while maintaining technical order, accessibility and visual control.
In a complex of this scale, the value lies in the ability to manage the entire connection path.
